Sacramento ACT Meadowview Partnership
The Community
Located in the south area of Sacramento, Meadowview is an ethnically diverse community with a mixture of low- and moderate-income residents. Bordered by Interstate 5, Franklin Boulevard, Florin Road and the neighborhoods south of Meadowview Road, it has a population of more than 37,000. Students at the six schools represent many ethnic backgrounds, including African-American, Caucasian, Chinese, Hmong, Lao, Latino, Mien and Tongan.
The Coalition
The Meadowview Partnership is a grassroots, community-led endeavor. Using community organizing, we are creating leadership opportunities and making long-term, meaningful change for Meadowview youth.
We are comprised of an exciting variety of community stakeholders that actively support youth development principles. Our partnership consists of schools, congregations, community groups, neighborhood groups, after-school programming and local government.
The goal of the Sacramento ACT Meadowview Partnership is to UNLOCK THE POWER OF YOUTH in Meadowview.
We strive to guide young people into adulthood with a broad set of tools and opportunities. By involving Meadowview youth in a process of community organizing and leadership development, we believe they will learn important leadership skills, develop a lifelong commitment to community involvement and activism, and take greater ownership of their community and their own lives.
Through youth and adult organizing, we also seek to have a long-term impact on how major youth-serving institutions ― particularly schools, congregations and city government ― help prepare youth for lifelong success.

Sacramento ACT Meadowview Partnership Documentary
We, Leslie Granciano and Jessica Ramos, are sophomores at Luther Burbank High School. We are members of the Meadowview Partnership. We are 15 and 16 years old. We value our friends, family, our Mexican culture, and love to dance. As youth leaders in New Age Latinas, we work to improve our leadership skills and help other girls graduate from high school and go on to college. We represent New Age Latinas on the Burbank Youth Action Team where we research youth concerns and try to improve our school and create a place where students feel comfortable learning.
Youth "Changing the View" at Meadowview Conference
by Isaiah Saucier and Sebastian Harton
Meadowview Partnership members
Our 2nd Annual Meadowview Youth Leadership Conference was about getting youth to have voices in the community and make change. We felt that we could start with the youth because adults could see what is going on with us, see that we are trying to make positive changes and then adults will follow our lead. We wanted to reach out to a broader population of youth because we know we are not the only ones trying to stop negative things that happen in each others’ communities.

Sacramento ACT Meadowview Partnership
The Meadowview community is a place where many youth have experienced an increase in youth issues. Statistically, the Meadowview community is deemed to be a “bad” neighborhood. Sacramento Area Congregations Together took notice of this, thus, creating the ACT Meadowview Partnership.
