REACH Youth Media Project
Now Accepting 2008-2009 Coalition TEAM Applications!
We are looking for youth between 14-17 years of age to represent their REACH Coalition Youth Video Media Team.
What are REACH Youth Video Media Teams?
- Youth Video Media Teams - 3-5 member teams made up of REACH youth representing the same REACH coalition
- Youth Video Media Teams- Will serve as a vital part of the REACH Youth-led community voice video documentation media project

The REACH Youth Video Media Team project enlists diverse youth comprised of representation from all 7 Regional REACH Grantees. You will find an application, participant expectations, and key information with this flyer.
Commitment
All REACH Youth Video Media Team Members must be able to make the following time commitment:
- Monthly Media Team Meetings: 2-3 hours per month the 1st Wednesday or Thursday of every month 4:00-7:00pm (August-May 2008-2009). Most full group meetings will be held at the Sierra Health Foundation. Additional meeting locations will be announced prior to the meeting date.
- Coalition Workgroups: 3-4 hours per month as scheduled by the workgroup.
(Plan on meeting at least once a month with the full group and once a month with your coalition team members.)
- Trainings: Two to four Saturday or Sunday all-day trainings or retreats, and mini-trainings throughout the year focusing on media/video documentary skill building, planning, and community analysis.
- Networking Opportunities: Collaborate and network with other youth leaders and community members.
Qualifications Of A Good REACH Youth Media Team Member Candidate:
- Between the ages of 14-17
- Connected to a Capital Region Sierra Health Foundation REACH Coalition
- Interested in helping other youth to succeed in carrying out youth-led community media/video projects
- Excited about making a difference in their community
- Wants to learn about group decision-making, planning, research, assessment, evaluation, and policy work.
- Likes working in groups, expressing opinions, and having fun
- Must be able to make a one year commitment. (June 2008 - May 2009)
- Must be able to attend monthly meetings, coalition workgroups, and occasional Saturday or Sunday trainings.
Key Information:
- Application Deadline- No later than Saturday, August 16th, 2008
- Coalitions must submit team applications (youth video media teams are considered to be 3 to 5 youth member participants)
- All youth media team applicants must complete the full application and written questions
- 2nd Training- Saturday August 16th, 2008 @ Sierra Health Foundation 10am-3pm
